Living Through The Seasons

Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Seasons bring about change, they bring about new beginnings and more often that not they bring about an immense amount of growth! As the seasons change, if we allow ourselves, we can too! How glorious would it be to grow with spring, to blossom with summer, to let go with autumn and to pause and reflect with winter.

No flower blossoms through the year, so why are we so hard on ourselves when we are not at our highest throughout the year? It is ok to take your time. To cherish the lows as much as the highs. We are all growing and learning and it makes everything a lot easier when we are gentle with ourselves. Giving ourselves time to move through the obstacles and the changes we face.

The Resilience Of Nature

An observation that I made a few weeks ago as I was observing a wildflower was how truly resilient nature is and how much we can learn from it! I am in awe and hope to one day learn to be as one with nature as I could possibly be. Flowers, plants, shrubs, trees and many more face harsh winds, heavy rains, predators and so on, and yet through it ALL they stand tall and shine their bright light for us to bask in. The trees offer us shelter from the rain, the flowers brings us joy and fill our hearts with love, the plants give us something to nurture in our homes and the shrubs may leave our gardens feeling a little less empty! All in all, nature is a marvellous wonder and I feel it is something to look up to. To seek strength from, to gain courage from and to know that if nature can be so brave as to dance in the harshest of storms, then so can I!!

Spring

Spring is a glorious time to cherish. New leaves sprouting, the smell of fresh growth in the air and the insects out and about, buzzing with joy over the exciting flowers beginning to bud. Spring is not only a magical time for nature. I like to think that we all have a bit of nature within us! So just like the trees that grow new leaves, we to grow and expand within ourselves. Spring is a beautiful time to set goals, get excited about where you are headed and open your heart to endless possibilities! It is a time to nurture yourself, care for yourself, just as you would a flower bud. As for when summer comes, we have nourished our beautiful bud so much so it blossoms and opens into a lovely flower!

Summer

As the sun shines bright, we learn to shine bright within ourselves too! To feed our inner flower some much needed nourishment and to really embody the essence of it and ourselves for that matter. To blossom and bloom with each step you take. Feel connected with nature as it surrounds you, embodies you and soothes you. As your inner flower blooms, really cherish it.

Autumn

The time for letting go. For some letting go is easy… and for others it can be painstakingly difficult. Yet it is a vital part of the flow of nature. Every year as autumn arrives, trees start to shed. The leaves are not meant to stay forever. Their time naturally comes to an end and they gracefully fall. This can be an important lesson that we can learn from nature. Sometimes, certain things that have outlived their stay in our lives are meant to be let go off. And only when we resist these changes, is when we start to struggle. So find it within yourself to let go. See the beauty in it. It is inevitable and know that come spring, you will have new growth, and welcome in something far greater, far more exciting and fulfilling into your life! So let go now and know that better days are ahead of you.

Winter

With winter comes a time to slow down. To pause for a minute and reflect on the year that is now coming to an end. Reflect on the growth, on the change, on successes and the failures. Slow down and take time for yourself. Winter leaves trees open and exposed and they are stripped of their leaves. They go into a state of hibernation in order to take care of themselves. To heal and to prepare for spring! So how can you gain closure from this year and plan for the next year?

I wish you all a lovely adventure through the seasons. May you breeze through the sunshine, the rain, and stop to admire the roses along the way. All my love and the warmest of wishes!

Happiness… and where to find it!

Have you ever longed to be overwhelmingly happy? To go to bed excited for tomorrow and to wake up with a goofy grin on your face? Well you have come to the right place! Happiness begins and ends in the present moment. The illusion that a lot of us carry along with us is thinking that it will be found by either recalling past memories of happy times or thinking it will be found in the future. For example, by achieving your dream job, or going on that holiday that you have been longing for. Don’t get me wrong, those things are great! And of course they will make you feel good! But we are talking about true and long lasting happiness here. A kind of happiness that stems from within, that seeps into our bones, awakens every cell in our bodies and really brings us to life! One that doesn’t rely on the influence of our external environment. Now that… you can only find when you are living in the present moment.

If we don’t nourish ourselves in the present moment, how are we expected to flourish in our future?

Have a think about it. Really take the time to tap into yourself in the here and now. Connect with yourself. How are you feeling? What do you feel you are lacking? What is your body craving for that your mind is too stubborn to give it? What are a few things that you could do to come back to yourself and really ground yourself in the now? What makes you come alive? What allows you space and room to breath fresh! What brings you joy? And what makes you laugh? Try and do more of these things and trust me you will not be waiting for your next holiday or your next promotion to be happy. For as long as we search for long term happiness externally, we will not find it. Going inwards is the path that leads to being truly happy. So please please please search your unique self!

The brilliant thing is, that no matter how far you stray, you can ALWAYS come back and start anew. Yes, it may take more of an effort depending how far you actually venture from your true self, but it all starts within you. It starts with an intention to really do better for yourself. It comes down to a simple choice. Do I want to be happy right now? Most of us say yes, but do we really mean it? We need to commit ourselves to being happy, commit ourselves to the present moment. Choose happiness again and again and then really embody the essence of it.

See it as a habit that you’re building for yourself. It definitely takes a conscious effort to make bad habits. It takes an equal amount of effort to create healthy habits. Why not make happiness a lifestyle? So what makes you happy? What makes you excited about today, tomorrow, a week, a month or a year from now?! How are you being called to be happy?

For me personally, happiness begins when I have the time to reconnect with myself. We I am in tune and aligned with all parts of my being. When I take the time to take care of myself and treat myself as I would treat a loved one. And when I feel it lacking, I will often ask myself… What could I do right now, in this very moment that is going to uplift me? I wait for the answer to come to me and then get right on it! I absolutely love to cook, I love to get creative and I love to listen to the kind of music that makes each and every cell in my body come alive! These are a few simple tasks that give me joy throughout my day! It doesn’t have to become a major thing. If you could only take a few minutes out of your day, doing something for yourself… just because!

However… no matter what we do, sometimes our mood can tend to dip and it takes ALOT of self discipline or self love to pick ourselves up and do something that we know will make us feel better. I find that when I’m feeling down or unmotivated, exercise can be a brilliant tool to get your juices flowing! And it’s not like you have to run a marathon (amazing if you can!), all you have to do is around 10 minutes. Something to get your blood pumping. So that you can release all that stagnant energy in your body and create room for high vibes and some much needed love!

Another obstacle that I often face is focus. I sometimes find it hard to focus on just one task at hand. The all too familiar negative or worrying thought cycles come to life and I am too enraptured in the events playing out in my mind to focus on what I am actually trying to do, which is essentially being happy! So once again… it come down to choice. We are choosing to focus our attention off the thoughts that are not serving our highest good.

Mindfulness is a tool that most of us overlook, but do not underestimate the power of being mindful. I tell you, it changed my life for the better! Small practices of mindfulness every day can enhance our quality of life. Being aware of our daily duties such as brushing our teeth or making our bed can create such an awakening within ourselves. Hear the sound of the sheets rustling, touch the soft fabric against your fingertips, smell the fresh linen wafting up your nose, look at your clean freshly made bed with satisfaction and determination… for it will be a great great day! And sense your mouth watering for the delicious breakfast that awaits your system!!

So you see, happiness can be cultivated through everyday tasks, it just has to start from within yourself. It really is quite simple if you are willing to try!

I look forward to hearing about all of your journeys to happiness!!

Overcoming Fear

Let’s start by asking ourselves one simple question. What is fear and how does it keep us from living our spectacular lives?! Fear is an emotion we feel when there is a threat of danger, harm or pain. Fear is evolutionarily ingrained in our DNA and was once quite a useful and helpful tool for us to fend off the dangers that once were, many years ago. But now as our threat for danger decreases, our mind plays tricks on us. We perceive danger in different ways such as talking to a stranger… or sitting an exam. There is no actual danger to our lives here, yet we perceive them as such. And if we were to go anywhere near a situation similar to that, it would feel life threatening. However, there is hope for us yet!!!

The first step to overcoming fear is awareness. Becoming aware of what sparks our fears is pivotal in allowing ourselves the time to release them. So what are you afraid of? And what made you so afraid of it? Can you recall any situations in your life which strengthened your fears? Once you have acknowledged where it comes from and why it is so prominent, we can start to change the story behind the fears. We can begin to go beyond the fears, for that is where our true powers lie! It is beautifully freeing to be able to release the hold that fear has on us. And that does not mean that fear will be gone forever. No, we will still feel it, however we will feel it like any other emotion that comes our way. And we will allow it to pass naturally instead of storing the fear in our bodies and letting them build and fester.

In order to over come fear, we have to learn how to sit with discomfort. Allow yourself to feel all of it. And then with love, we release it. We breathe into the fear, into the feelings and as we breathe out we feel it being released from our bodies. Creating space for calm to take its place. Somewhere along the line, almost all of us have learned that pain, fear etc are emotions that we want to avoid, not feel. But what we have to realise is that there has to be a balance of both the good and the so called ‘bad’ emotion. In my opinion there is no such thing as bad emotions. I feel, we have to experience the bad to really feel the good. They both go hand in hand. SO let’s switch our perception on fear as being a bad emotion. Let’s look at it as a lesson that we are being called to learn from. Fear often pops up when we need to break free from certain barriers that have been created around us. We are being called to become aware of these barriers and either go through them or climb over them! Either way, we are moving past them and moving forwards with our lives. Not giving the fear any power and allowing ourselves to reach our full potential. Allowing this fear to teach us to go beyond it and expand rather than staying within it and constricting.

For example, fear of loss can be a tough one to face. We get comfortable in our lives, and the people that are around us. We tend to get overly attached to them and start to cling on to them. It takes great courage to find the strength within ourselves to be able to consciously learn to detach from the people that we are afraid of losing and fill that space with freedom. To say “I release this unhealthy need for attachment that I hold for you and replace it with love and freedom” You have to find it within yourself to accept that nothing is certain in life, try to find the beauty in that, and come home to the fact that you live every moment to the fullest, don’t take anything for granted, and cherish all that you have now in this present moment. For you don’t know how long you will have it. Find the strength within yourself to know that even if you lost what or who you cherish most in the world, you WILL rise up again. You WILL move forward and you WILL keep going, expand, learn and grow.

Every year a tree will start to shed their leaves come autumn as they are stripped bare in the wet and cold. It takes tremendous courage, strength and bravery, and yet every year their leaves fall. However, come spring we see magic appear as the tiny leaves start to sprout and new growth emerges in all its beauty and wonder. These majestic trees start to blossom and bloom once again! Swaying in the wind, with an array of gorgeous colours shining bright! And once again, it all comes down to perspective and choice. You can choose to focus on your leaves being striped bare leaving you cold, wet and alone… OR you could understand that it is a vital part of experiencing the life that we lead. That in order to experience the magic, we need to strip ourselves bare sometimes, feel what we need to feel… and then rebuild our glorious selves into beautiful beings of love and light! It is a wonderful process if only we don’t focus on the difficult and focus on the wondrous outcome.

So focus on the good and know that you cannot have the good without a little bit of the bad. Change your perspective on the bad! It does not have to be negative, switch it around! Get creative and have fun through all your experiences, for that is what it means to truly be alive!

He who is not everyday conquering some fear has not learned the secret of life
